Welcome
" ... There is a touch, a feeling, a delicate service that is not always in evidence in professional duties, but is not lacking at Stephenson Funeral Home. Here the dead are treated with a reverence, respect and consideration that could not be exceeded in the private home and which is a source of endless comfort and satisfaction to friends and loved ones of the departed."
                                                                             -Advance Monticellonian, July 4, 1932

For more than 80 years, Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home has been a recognized business establishment, as well as a family tradition in Monticello. Established in 1928 by 42 year old Edward Lee Stephenson, the funeral home has progressed from the original "home equipped with chapel, rest rooms, and all other modern facilities" into a very sophisticated, professional, and advanced institution under the ownership of the Dearman family. A native of Columbia County, Edward Lee Stephenson moved to Drew County at the age of eleven with his parents, the late Rev. J. M. Stephenson and Laura Baucum Stephenson and was reared in the Green Hill community.

After the death of Edward Lee Stephenson, the institution was under the ownership of Stephenson's son, Raymond Stephenson, and following his death, by that of Charles and Laura Lee (Stephenson) Dearman and their sons Chuck and David Dearman. Family ownership is now shared by Charles and Chuck Dearman in the same reverent and caring manner begun by the Stephenson family.
