Virginia Clifton was born on March 9, 1938, to the late Frank Ferrell and Alberta Gardner. She departed this life to rest on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Chapel Woods Nursing Home in Warren, AR.
Virginia left a legacy of good works exemplifying faithful service to the Lord and to her family. Virginia was a dedicated worker for Christ at her local church, Monticello #1 Church of God in Christ, under the previous leadership of Pastor Sherman Skinner and current leader, Pastor Jemie Davis, where she was a longtime member. She dedicated her life to Christ at the age of 23 and continued in holiness until her rest. Virginia worked in many different capacities on both local and district levels as she was running for the Lord. She was a licensed Missionary and District Field Representative for the Evangelism Department of the Monticello District COGIC under the leadership of Superintendent Roy L. Simmons. She also worked as treasurer and secretary for her local church. She was always found to be in service in high praise and testifying to the goodness of the Lord.
Virginia married the love of her life, Mr. Lerone (Booster) Clifton, at the age of 16. She worked outside her home in a domestic capacity and always found time for her family and her church.
She was preceded in death by her husband; five sisters, Lucille Hopkins, Laverne Clifton, Francis Owens, Maxine Washington and Clara McCoy; and four brothers, Roosevelt, Sylvester, John and Jessie Ferrell.
Virginia leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Dorothy (Jerry Don) Foster and Brenda (Donald) Freeman, both of Monticello, AR; one sister, Betty (Eddie) Walton of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren, Donald, Shameka, Jerrilyn, and Latrice; 12 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial to follow in Wilmar Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.
