Louis Ray Jacks
November 3, 1936 - August 31, 2010

Louis Ray Jacks, age 73, of Hamburg, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. He was born November 3, 1936 in a log cabin on Clear Creek in Lincoln County.

He retired from the U. S. D. A. - Soil Conservation Service with 33 years of service and then worked 13 years for Ducks Unlimited. He was in the U. S. Army for 3 years, serving 13 months in Korea during the Korean War and was discharged August 31, 1964. He was a member and deacon of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Monticello. He was a historian and avid story teller and loved telling stories and spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was the son of the late Glen H. Jacks and Lula Jewel Conner Jacks and was also preceded in death by one sister, Glenda Jacks Summerford.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary Jo Bradley Jacks of Hamburg; two sons, Steve Jacks and wife, Tina and David Jacks and wife, Kim, all of Monticello; two daughters, Lori Jones and husband, Rob of Lacey and Melissa Hartley and husband, Mike of Hamburg; one sister, Sue McClellan and husband, John of New Edinburg; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
