Vernie Eugene Thurman, age 82 of Monticello, AR, passed away January 20, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock, AR. He was born September 25, 1939, in Monticello, AR to the late Marvin Thurman and Margurette Funderburg Thurman. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Hunter Thurman Sr.
He was retired from Burlington Rug Mill after 39 years of service. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of the Northside Baptist Church in Monticello, AR and a devoted husband, daddy, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Parker Thurman of Monticello, AR, two sisters, Reba Graham (Robert) and Debbie Kruse; three brothers, Marvin Jr., Kenneth and Dale; one son Michael Thurman from Alabama; two daughters, Dottie Colon (Jerry) of Texas and Denetra Thurman Scogins (Jimmy) of Monticello; five grandchildren, Carol Anne (Lance), Chason, Ashley, Bryce and Chandler; four great-grandchildren, Kalani, Jason, Jada, and Hunter Jr.; and numerous nephews and nieces that he loved dearly; three special sisters-in-law, Theresa, Mary, and Debbie; two brothers-in-law, John Parker Sr. and Darrell Snuffer Sr; and a special cousin, Jane Wall.
Memorials are to go to Arkansas Hospice in Monticello, AR.
