Leona Genievieve White
December 28, 1920 - October 29, 2010

Leona Genievieve Moore White, 89, of Monticello, passed away Friday, October 29, 2010 at JRMC in Pine Bluff. She was born December 28, 1920 in Monticello. She accepted Christ as her saviour at a early age and united with Pilgrim Rest A.M.E. church where she served as a YPD Director, choir member and a member of the Usher Board. She also was a member of the Junior Womens Club that was organized by Ms. M. L. Lomax. She then joined Northwest Community Baptist Church in October of 1986 under the leadership of Bishop James W. E. Dixon, II, where she servided as a seasoned saint. She was also a member of the convalescent ministries for the sick and shut in. She also served on the overcomers ministry. She was a faithful tither.

She later rejoined Pilgrim Rest A.M.E. Church under the leadership of Rev. Kent J.. Broughton, SR. She servied as a faithful member until her health failed and she retired from nursing. She was preceded in death by her husband, R. C. White, One brother, Leroy Moore, one sister-in-law, Clementine Moore, a step-father, Roosevelt Sanders and one great-great-niece, Do'Nya Moore-Ridgell.

She leaves to share her precious memories, 13 nieces and nephews, 4 of which she raised as her own, Leon (Carol) Moore, Bobby R. (Flo) Moore, Christine (Steve) Collins, all of Monticello, Louise (LaFrance) Colbert of Hamburg, L. C. Handley of McGehee, Barbara (Mark) Banks, Lonnie Moore, Doyle Moore, Shelanda Moore, also of Monticello, Sharon Haynes and Evelyn Lyles, both of Dallas, TX, Annette (Mark) Batts of Austin, TX and William H. Moore of San Francisco, CA. She also leaves to cherish a special first cousin, Wyatt Moore of Gardena, CA, and a very good friend, Melvin James of Monticello. 43 great-nieces and nephews, 53 great-great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
