Nancy Boyd White Lassiter
April 19, 1905 - June 1, 2024
Nancy Boyd White Lassiter lived a life of honesty and integrity; she was kind and loving. Born in Monticello, in 1936, she spent her childhood and adolescence there - it was always ''home.''
She graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College where she was a beauty queen and married her high school sweetheart, Dale Lassiter, on June 8, 1957.
For 67 years, they have modeled a partnership and commitment honoring the Lord, each other, their family, and community.
Dale's career took them to Heber Springs, Little Rock, and finally Russellville, where they made a home with their two children Cindy and Curt.
There she joined the First United Methodist Church in 1968 where she has served the body of Christ and was an active member of the Carden Sunday School class. She and her husband have hosted a weekly Covenant group in their home for over 50 years.
In the kitchen she rivaled Betty Crocker - she was an incredible cook. Her competitive spirit surfaced at the bridge table and, in past years, on the tennis court. Travel was always fun for her, and she enjoyed involvement in Culture Club and was recently celebrated at the PEO State Convention for 50 years of membership in the sisterhood that was truly a part of her fabric. She maintained lasting friendships from every chapter of her life.
Her children and grandchildren were her delight and the jewels in her crown.
She is preceded in death by her father, Russell Fletcher White, and her mother, Esther Boyd White.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Dale Lassiter, of Russellville; her children, Dr. Cynthia Lynn Lassiter of Birmingham, Alabama, and Curtis Boyd Lassiter (Kay) of Little Rock; grandchildren, Judson Marshall Smith (Emily) of Dallas, Texas, Camille Elise Smith of Knoxville, Tennessee, Dr. H. Baker Smith of Nashville, Tennessee, Sarah Catherine Lassiter and Emma Grace Lassiter of Little Rock; and great-grandchildren, Harper Rosemary Smith and Eloise Teale Smith of Dallas, Texas.
As an only child, she loved her cousins as siblings, and she is survived by Don Freel of Hope, and Carol Bedsole (Bob) of Hot Springs.
The family requests memorials to the Mana House at Russellville First United Methodist Church, 304 S Commerce Avenue, Russellville, Arkansas 72801.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church in Russellville with a reception to follow under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville. A family burial will be held in Oakland Cemetery in Monticello, AR at a later date.
