Ervin Rodgers

Ervin Rodgers, age 86 of Crossett, AR, passed away Monday, November 25, 2024, at his home in Crossett. He was born March 13, 1938, in Wilmar, AR to the late Lloyd Ervin Rodgers and Lela Mae Goyne Rodgers.
He retired from Georgia Pacific after 41 years of service and was a member of North Crossett First Baptist Church. Mr. Ervin loved the outdoors where he was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. In his later years, he also enjoyed giving his time to help some of the older members of the church but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandkids. He was known for being a fisherman and cooking his catfish and many enjoyed it for decades. He loved the Lord and enjoyed his Sunday School class for years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Lloyd (Kenny) Rodgers; and four siblings, Jimmy Rodgers, Merle Hickam, Dovie Reano and Aurelia Pennington.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sue Watts Rodgers of Crossett; two sons, Charles Rodgers of Crossett and Tim Rodgers and wife Iris of Monticello (and daughter, Lelia-Grace); one sister, Christine Pennington of Monticello; grandchildren, Brock Rodgers and wife Mariah of Crossett (and twin sons, Judah and Callan) and Brett Rodgers and wife Dominique of San Antonio, TX (and daughter, Everly); his extended family who were like children to him, Dewey and Ila Ward and Curt and Lacey Jordan all of Crossett; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with Bro. Keith Martin and grandsons, Brock and Brett Rodgers officiating. There will be a visitation an hour preceding the funeral service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Beulah Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Brock Rodgers, Brett Rodgers, Curt Jordan, Dewey Ward, Mike Pennington and Ronnie Rodgers. Service as honorary pallbearers will be Ervin's nieces and nephews.
