May 23, 1932 - January 5, 2025

Billy Joe Majors, age 92 of Monticello, passed away Monday, January 5, 2025, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, AR. He was born May 23, 1932, in Cornersville, AR to the late R.S. Majors and Dorothy Hood Majors.
Billy graduated from Drew Central High School in 1950. After High School, on February 5, 1952, Billy enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served for four years. He was in the 483rd Tactical Hospital Unit in Japan. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Korean Service Medal. When he was discharged from the military on February 17, 1956, he had earned the rank of Master Sergeant. He was very proud of his military service.
Billy at one time ran the Sunbeam Bread Route where he met many people and always had a smile for them. Eventually he and his wife Louise opened and managed the Corner Grocery on North Hyatt Street. He then became a car salesman with the local Ford and Chevrolet dealerships in Monticello. Billy never met a stranger and was there to help whomever he could. He had a knack for talking to people to make them feel at ease. He loved going to the horse races and was also a huge sports fan where his favorites were the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and the Arkansas Razorbacks football team.
Billy is survived by two sons, Mark Majors and wife Donna of Benton and Chris Majors of Monticello; a daughter, Renee Majors Grizzle of White Hall; three granddaughters, Traci Weatherly and husband Ryan of Alexander, Tara Brown and husband Zack of Benton and Britni Huskey of Monticello; and three great grandchildren, Charlotte Weatherly, and twin boys Braxton and Jaxton Huskey.
Billy was loved by so many in Drew County and lived his life to the fullest. He always had a smile on his face and a wave to his hand.
