Janie May Gathings King, age 86 of Monticello, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, February 1, 2025. She was born September 19, 1938, in Bath Springs, TN to the late Marion Milton Gathings and Daisy Ruth May Gathings.
Mrs. King was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church for over 30 years. She loved working in her yard with her plants and going to church to worship the Lord. She worked at Wells Lamont Glove Factory for many years before becoming a housewife and homemaker. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of more than 50 years, Ira Laron King; her daughter, Catrina Gayle Young; sons, Ronnie King and Randall King; a grandson, Matt Ferguson; her parents; and eight siblings.
She is survived by her children, John William Young (Amy) of Big Lake, MN, Teresa Carol Fourroux (Butch) of Sugarland, TX, Calvin Terry Young (Michelle) of Star City, AR, Terry John King (Rhonda) of Monticello, AR and Belinda Kay Ferrell (Ricky) of Dermott, AR; seventeen grandchildren, Angel Polk, Renee Thames, Eric Henderson, Corey Young, Caden Young, John John Young, Lacy Himes, Rainy Guirlando, Amber Acree, Josh King, Robbie King, Sam King, Cody King, Skyler King, Kassie Walker, Dana Herring and Paige King; along with numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2025, at First Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Justin Morphis and Bro. Phillip Payne officiating. There will be a visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the church. Burial will be in Tillar Cemetery.
