Rosa ''Rose'' Marie (Binns) Scott was born on September 6, 1948, in Monticello, Arkansas, to the late Robert Binns and Willie Bell (Douglas) Block. She departed this life on Thursday, March 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. A Life of Faith and Dedication Rosa received her formal education in the Monticello School District. From an early age, she dedicated her life to the Lord, becoming a faithful member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in Monticello, Arkansas. She frequently attended Holy Divine Spiritual Church alongside her family, enriching her spiritual journey. Later, she moved her membership to Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of McAlmont in North Little Rock, Arkansas, where she faithfully served under the leadership of Pastor Bryan E. Blood until her passing. Rosa's unwavering faith was a pillar of her life, and she shared her spiritual wisdom with those around her, offering prayers, encouragement, and guidance. A Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Friend: Affectionately known as "Sam," Rosa was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her passion for family was boundless, and she embraced her role as a matriarch with unwavering love and dedication. She created a home that was a sanctuary of warmth, laughter, and togetherness, ensuring that everyone who entered felt welcomed and cherished. Rosa's nurturing spirit extended beyond her family, as she took immense pride in fostering meaningful relationships and supporting those in need. Rosa was a woman of many passions. She had an immense love for music, embracing all genres, which provided a soundtrack to her life's journey. She found great joy in fishing, relishing the peaceful moments spent by the water. A voracious reader, Rosa immersed herself in books, expanding her knowledge and fueling her curiosity. She had a keen interest in mystery and crime shows such as First 48, Criminal Minds, and Cold Case, often solving cases in her mind before they unraveled on screen. Her love for puzzles and problem-solving highlighted her sharp intellect and ability to think critically. Her vibrant personality, infectious energy, and storytelling ability made her the heart of any gathering. Rosa approached life with an unmatched resilience, often overcoming challenges with grace and determination. Her strength was awe-inspiring, leaving many to marvel at her ability to triumph over adversity. She was a woman built for the journey, as designed by the Lord. A Legacy of Hard Work and Service: Rosa dedicated many years to her profession as a Wok Chef and Certified Nursing Assistant. She mastered the art of preparing authentic Chinese dishes, skillfully blending traditional techniques with bold flavors. Her culinary expertise brought joy to many, and her nurturing nature extended to her work in healthcare. As a Certified Nursing Assistant, Rosa provided compassionate care, touching the lives of numerous patients and their families. Even in retirement, her generosity never wavered, as she continued to nurture those around her with love and kindness. Remembering Rosa: Rosa was preceded in death by her father, Robert Binns, Sr.; her mother, Willie Bell (Douglas) Block; her brothers, John Wayne Block and Robert L. Binns; her sisters, Gladys Daniels and Ethel (Block) Miles; and her grandson, Clifton Hampton III. She leaves to cherish her beloved children, Henry Green, Sr., James Ratliff and Tina Scott-Jackson of Little Rock, AR; her grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy, Raymonda Lee, La'Michael Coats, Corbin Thompson, Henry Green, Jr , Lolita (Ontario, Sr.) Adams, Trajhan Skinner, Rheigan Skinner, La'Marley Coats, Corbi Kentle, Corvin Kentle, Corlin Plummer, Diamond Wilson, Henry Green IL, Ontario Adams, Jr., Ayden Adams and Millani Adams of Little Rock, AR.
She is also survived by her loving siblings, Virginia Binns, Dewey Binns, Minnie Rhodes, Ervin (Rhonda), Lula (Henry) Harden, Gail Block, Linda Block, Mary (Mae) Block of Monticello, Otis (Ida) Block of Dumas, AR, Harold (Jewel) Block of Lacey, AR, Patricia Buckhanan of Pine Bluff, AR. Additionally, she leaves behind two uncles, Robert Douglas and Albert Wesley Adams; one aunt, Edna Dornham-Allen of Monticello, AR; along with a host of cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Rosa's love, wisdom, and spirit will continue to shine through the lives she touched. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and resilience that will forever be remembered.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with Rev. Melvin Foster officiating. There will be a visitation from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. preceding the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Union Ridge Cemetery.
