Porter Franklin
January 17, 1917 - March 26, 2011
Porter Franklin was born January 17, 1917 in Ashley County to the late John and Julie Franklin. He died at Drew Memorial Hospital, March 26, 2011.
Mr. Franklin united with Promise Land Baptist Church of Lacey, at an early age. He was married to Treathe Smith in 1938 and to this union nine children were born. Mr. Porter was a logger with Rd Jones Logging Company in Lacey until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Treathe Franklin; one daughter, LaFran Rogers; one son, Glen Franklin; three brothers, Coleman, McKinley and John Franklin, and one sister, Bama Dodd.
He leaves to cherish his memories two sons, John Porter (Mary) Franklin of Lacey, AR and Jerry (Delores) Franklin of McGehee, AR; five daughters, Ivanell (Floyd) Handley of Lacey, AR, Vernie M Childress and Patricia Staple of Monticello, AR, Shirley Tabb of Toledo, OH and Jacalyn Riley of Detroit, MI; 21 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren; and a host of great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; also a daughter in law Doris Franklin; three sister-in-laws, Matilda Franklin, Ophia Jean Franklin and Mary Moore; and many other relatives and friends.
