Mary Taylor Locke
February 26, 1910 - June 6, 2011

Mary Belle Taylor Locke, age 101, of Monticello passed away Monday, June 6, 2011 at Belle View Estates in Monticello. She was born February 26, 1910 in Arcadia, Louisiana to the late Henry Robert T. Taylor and Mary Dove Allen Taylor. Also preceding her in death was her brother, James C. Taylor; and two grandsons, Michael and Peter Michel.

She was the widow of Hollis Locke, a housewife, retired store clerk and a member of the Pauline Missionary Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Bastrop Ladies Auxiliary, taught Sunday School for many years and was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Anytime there was a revival or a minister visiting her church, she would always let them stay at her house where she could cook for them. She loved to sing and play the piano by ear. She was everyone's mother and never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was also a very positive person and loved everyone as everyone loved her in return.

Survivors include two daughters, Dolores Michel of Marksville, LA and Carol Sue Wallace White and husband Darrell of Monticello; five grandchildren Clara Casey and husband Danny, Mary Anne Ducote and husband Michael, Robert Wallace and wife Dee Ann, Russell Wallace and wife Kacie, Rhonda Huffman and husband Brad; thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
