Ellawea Witherspoon King
October 20, 1934 - February 12, 2014

Ms Ellawea Witherspoon King was born, October 20, 1934 to the late Richard and Betty Edwards Witherspoon in the Coleman Community. She departed this life on February 12, 2014 at the Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello.


She was the oldest of fifteen children and grew up in the Coleman Community where she received her education. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with the Syrene Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member, as well as a choir member and Deaconess until her death. She was a homemaker and was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Roosevelt King, Jr. and to this union nine children was born.


She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Lee Edward King and Johnny Ray King; one daughter-in-law, Patsy King; five brothers, Lee Edward, Ozell, Benny, Raymond and Bobby Joe Witherspoon and a step-daughter, Lee Ester King.


She leaves to cherish her memories her step-mother, MaryWitherspoon; two daughters, Rose (Loman) Daniels of Monticello and Brenda Kevin of Oakland, CA; five sons, Carl (Diane), Roosevelt (Jennifer), Tommie (Annette), Richard and Michael King all of Monticello; five extended children, Bennie (Betty), Buford (Cheryl) and Ruby all of St. Louis, Missouri, Mary and Marie of California; five brothers, Richard, Jr. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, James (Essie) of Liberal, Kansas and Terry (Angel) Witherspoon of Kansas City, Kansas, Frederick (Tammy) of Dallas Texas and Michael Witherspoon of Liberal Kansas; four sisters, Delois (Maurice) Terry and Gloria (Steve) Boilem of Liberal, Kansas, Burnestine Britt of Kansas City, Missouri and Margaret Laster of Mobile, Alabama; thirty-three grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends and a very special supportive cousin, Dorothy (George) Strain of Monticello and Billy Mack Edward.
