Theresie Jackson Watkins
December 23, 1961 - March 13, 2014

Theresie Ann (Kathy) Jackson-Watkins was born on December 23, 1961 in Wilmar, Arkansas to the late Charles Wesley Jackson and Birtho Davis Jackson.

Theresie received her education in the Monticello Public School System. In 1979 she married Perry Joe Handley and moved to Crossett where she was employed by Georgia Pacific Corporation. She lived in LaPlace, Louisiana, Bastrop, Louisiana, Shreveport, Louisiana and Little Rock, Arkansas before moving to Kansas City, Kansas in 1997. While Kansas she was employed by the Asten Products. It was in Kansas City, Kansas that she met the love of her life Mr. Derrick Gentry and moved to Kansas City, Missouri. Theresie had a larger than life personality. She loved to laugh and have fun. Her favorite pastime was listening to music, getting her nail manicured and changing her hair styles. She loved her boys, grandchildren and her extended family. There was never a dull moment when she was around. She was avid sportsman play basketball, softball and running Track at Monticello High School.

Theresie confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and joined Stranger Rest A.M.E Church. While living in Little Rock, Arkansas she joined Mt Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. O. C. Jones. In Kansas she attended various churches and joined Forest Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas under the leadership of Rev. Desmond Lamb. After a lengthy illness, Theresie made her transition to heaven on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 3:33 p.m. at St Luke Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

Theresie leaves to cherish her memories: her friend, lover and caretaker Derrick Gentry; two sons Perry Joe, Jr and Jonathan (Renee), two grandchildren; Paris Handley of Exmore, Virginia and Jaylien Rouse of Chesapeake, Virginia. Two sisters Retha Collins of Sherwood, Arkansas and Bessie (Johnny) Jefferson of Monticello; Arkansas; Five brothers Charles (Vicki) and Perry of Kansas City, Kansas, Johnnie Ray of Monticello, Arkansas, Benford (Kathy) of Orlando, Florida and Willie of Gary, Indiana; Special Aunts Iona Ridgell of Kansas City, Missouri and Norma Woodard and Joyce Steen; Special nieces Ramona Collins and LaShonda Binns and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Theresie is gone but will never be forgotten.
