He was a retired farmer and was of the Pentecostal faith. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Ray Irons.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Cessor Irons of Wilmar; two sons, Bobby Irons of Watson and Jason Irons of Evansville, IN; two daughters, Sharon Howard of Paron and Rita Essery of Cold Springs, TX; two brothers, James Irons of McGehee and Harlan Irons of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Florene Turner of Rison and Lorene Chambers of Hot Springs; thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
