Having been born and raised in Drew County, Arkansas, Charlie was educated at the Montongo School. In addition, he received his early religious training at Mt. Pleasant AME Church.
On April 26, 1944, Charlie entered the United States Army. He trained at Camp Robinson in Arkansas as well as Camp Claiborne in Louisiana. After training, he served overseas in Africa, Italy, Switzerland, and Germany. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Battle Star, American Defense and Victory Ribbons. Charlie continued to demonstrate his patriotism by working with the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. After his service in the military, Charlie worked as a mechanic at EXXON stations in Monticello. He was regarded as an expert in automotive repairs. His willingness to help people with their cars often led to long lasting friendships.
Upon retirement, Charlie renewed his love for classic westerns and cowboy movies. Part of his daily routine included waking up early to see the shows he loved as a child.
He was preceded in death by three children: Carl Edward Vincent, Curtis Vincent, and Sherry Lynn Vincent Lambert.
Charlie married Mildred Smith April 8, 1944 and to this union nine children were born. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife of 70 years, five sons and two daughters: Charlie (Bennie) Vincent, Jr. of Monticello, AR; Frederick (Marilyn) Vincent of Monticello, AR; Willard (Barbara) Vincent of Monticello, AR; Dwight (Melissa) Vincent of Monticello, AR; Victor (Jacqueline) Vincent of Richmond, TX; Wonda Chestnut of Rosenberg, TX; Barbara Benton of Warren, AR; 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Warren, AR Saturday, March 14, 2015 Daddy, it is so hard to believe that you are gone. Life is not the same, and there is a deep hole within my heart. I went to the cemetery last week thinking that would bring me comfort. Needless to say, it did not. By now you would be wanting me to get your hover round charged up so that you and I could go up and down Vincent Lane or go outside to hang with Fred at the shop. I miss the special moments you and I shared watching television and riding around town to see new buildings. You left so many memories that I hold near and dear to my heart. I know that death is a part of life, and you had to go. However, I still miss you terribly. I thank God that he gave you 94 years on this earth. You almost made it to 95! We had so many good times daddy, and I am so glad that you knew that I loved you. So on the eve of your 95th birthday, I will leave these words from one of my favorite books, Love You Forever by Robert Munsch:I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living my daddy you'll be.
So daddy, "Happy trails to you until we meet again."

Monticello, AR Friday, June 6, 2014 The first time I met Charlie, Jr., he asked me if I knew Charlie at the Exxon station. I told him that everyone knew Mr. Charlie. When he said that he was Mr. Charlie's son, I knew immediately that he was a good guy. Mr. Charlie was a fixture at the Exxon station and was well liked and respected by everyone who knew him. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. May God give you comfort and peace that only He can give.Brenda Joyce Green
