Vernell Haynes O'Neill, age 93 of Monticello, formerly of Warren, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 at Belleview Estates Nursing and Rehab Facility in Monticello, AR. She was born November 15, 1922 in Drew County to the late Cliff and Ida Griffin Haynes.

She was the widow of Hershel Lamar O'Neill, a member of Corinth Baptist Church and also helped organize the Green Hill Baptist Church. Along with her late husband, she was co-owner and operator of H.L. Sand & Gravel Company. She also worked at Anderson's Jewelry in Warren and later for Walmart. Vernell was a member of Bradley County Hospital Auxiliary and was a foster grandparent for the Warren Elementary School.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one brother, D.C. Haynes; and one sister, Ruby Hawkins Loveless.

Survivors include one son, Bill O'Neill and wife Lela of Searcy; one daughter, Diane O'Neill Underwood of Warren; grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Michael, Clarissa, Nichols, Katherine; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Kurt, Michael, Kylie, Lela, Lexi, Grace, Sela, Haleigh, Tristyn and Karley; one brother, Roy E. Haynes of Bastrop; and one nephew, Lee Haynes and three nieces, Carol Hawkins Palmer, LouAnn Jones and Judy Hawkins Randle.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in the O'Neill Family Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon till service time Thursday. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.
