Joan Losty Ellis, age 78 of Monticello, passed away Monday, April 10, 2017. She was born March 28, 1939 in Holyoke, Massachusetts to the late Russell Losty and Rita Benoit Losty.

She was a retired Registered Nurse, receiving her degree in Nursing in Holyoke, MA. She was an RN for 39 years, an Administrator at Leisure Lodge Nursing Home in Monticello and was a Director of Nursing at Drew Memorial Hospital as well as in Searcy, AR at White County Hospital. She delivered many babies and saved many lives during her nursing career. She was a genealogist, a seamstress, an accomplished pianist and provided her talent at Calvary Baptist Church in Heber Springs, AR. She enjoyed many crafts and was a good interior designer. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend to many. She deeply loved people and influenced many lives. Joan will be missed by her family and friends. Most important, she was a Christian who loved and served the Lord.

Survivors include three sons, Tommie Ellis, James Ellis and wife Beverly Crouch Ellis and Mark Ellis, all of Monticello; two daughters, Sharon Ellis of Florida and Amber Ellis of Monticello; two brothers, James Losty and Tom Losty of Massachusetts; one sister, Teresa Losty of Massachusetts; six grandchildren, Jeremy Ellis, Marisa and Domonique Alexander, Thomas Ellis and wife Skylar Henry Ellis, Heather Ellis, Max Ellis and Madison English; three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Zackery and Landon.


Graveside service will be 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Oakland Cemetery. Arrangements by Stephenson-Dearman. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.

    I just heard of Joan's passing. She was such a sweet, loving lady and made me smile. I am so sorry I did not learn of her passing so I could have attended her graveside service. Amber, Max and Sharon you and your family are in my prayers.
