It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Mark Andrew Ellis announces his unexpected passing, on Monday, June 26, 2017, at the age of 47 years. Mark was born in Houston, Texas on August 23, 1969 to Henry R. Ellis and the late Joan E. Ellis.

Mark was a local business owner for many years in Monticello. After he retired from his business he then looked after his mother and helped mentor his youngest sister as she grew up. Mark was still helping to care for his baby sister when he passed away. He was also one of the best motorcycle and ATV competitors in the region. He won so many 1st place events he had to store his trophies at the local Yamaha shop because there was no more room at the house for them. Many people knew Mark by the name Twiggy, but he could have very well been known as "Hole Shot" because when the gun when off to start a race Mark was always the first off the line and out front of everyone else and remained there to win the events again and again and again.

Mark had a very special soul. He was very loving, tender and caring to those close to him and to his friends he would give the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it, and often times he did. Mark had a very close relationship with his brother James and they rebuilt cars together on the weekends. Mark was currently attending school at UAM and was starting a new journey in his life to open a heavy equipment company and was only a few short months away from achieving that goal. Mark will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his father Henry R. Ellis; three brothers, Tommie Ellis, James Ellis and spouse Beverly and Caleb Ellis and spouse, Lila; three sisters, Debra Sharp, Sharon Ellis and Amber Ellis; nephews Jackie Sharp, Jeremy Ellis, Max Ellis, Thomas Ellis and his spouse Skylar; nieces Heather Ellis, Madison English, Marisa Alexander and her spouse Dominique.

Graveside services for Mark Ellis will be at Oakland Cemetery Friday June 30, 2017 at 6:00 pm. Arrangements are by Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.

My beloved son Mark was everything to me for 35 years. I know deep in my heart that he would be with us today if I could have stayed with him.
Mark was a success as a business man, as an athlete, as a champion in the world of motor sports but most of all he held nothing back as he gave everlasting love and support to his family and friends. May god forgive me for failing my beautiful son.
