She was a member of Enon Baptist Church of Monticello. Her first job, upon graduation from high school was in Oak Ridge, Tennessee where she worked as a teletype operator supporting the Manhattan Project, (WWII Atomic bombs). She also served as secretary, for numerous years, at the Arkansas Rehabilitation Center of Arkansas in Monticello and later worked in the Financial Aid Department at UAM until she retired. She was also a graduate of Draughon Business School. However, her greatest challenge and achievement was the rearing of three children, imparting her love for Christ and His Word to them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Garland Rash; two sisters, Joyce Lawson James and Robbie Lawson Cater; brother Devon and baby sister Ruby Veldean.
Survivors include, one brother, Bruce Lawson and wife Rachel; two daughters, Donna Rash Gober and husband Mike and Diane Rash Carter and husband Ronnie; son Dennis Rash and wife Teresa; eight grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends with whom she shared her life and love.
Many thanks go out, from the family, to those at Salem-Place Nursing and Rehab Center and Kindred Hospice as well, for those who lovingly cared for our loved one through her journey home. Thanks to you from the bottom of our hearts.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2017 at Enon Baptist Church with burial to follow in Enon Cemetery. Visitation 1:00-2:00 p.m. Friday at the church. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.
