He was retired from Mississippi River Transmission Corporation and was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. Mr. S.T. was a very dedicated member of Wilmar Baptist Church where he served as song director for 52 years, was Sunday School Secretary and taught Sunday School for many years.
Mr. S.T. was also known for his horse shoeing which he did practically his whole life. He shoed his last horse at age 85. He was President of the Shining M Riding Club and judged various rodeo events. He was also a gifted team roper and cutting horse champion having won numerous trophies and titles. He dearly loved his family and was a loving daddy and grandpa.
Survivors include one son, David Roark of Wilmar; one daughter, Lisa Schmidt of Wilmar; a grandson, Jonathan Adams of Burleson, TX; a granddaughter, Heather Arthur of Burleson, TX; two great granddaughters, Scarlette Cason and Leada Arthur; two sisters-in-law, Bessie Dee West of Warren and Lucille Casteel of Pine Bluff; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and good friends.
Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel. Burial will follow at Andrews Chapel Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be Wednesday night at the funeral home. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.
