Harold Wayne Cooper passed away at St Vincents Hospital in Little Rock, AR on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the age of 86 years. He was preceded in death by his father, William B. Cooper; his mother, Bernice Cooper; and his brothers James Cooper and Travis Cooper.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 59 years Clara Cooper. They were married in Dallas TX on June 5, 1959. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister Janice Daniel and husband Seth of Hernando, MS; two sons, Bennett Cooper and wife Jackie of Platte City, MO and David Cooper and wife Kim of Monticello; three grandchildren, Terrah Pena of Bryant, Sarah Martin of Monticello, and Briana Morgan of Alexander; five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wayne was born in Izzard County, Arkansas on Dec 9, 1931. He graduated from Southside High School Memphis TN in 1950, served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and went on to earn a BS in Business Administration from Harding College in 1958. Wayne and Clara moved from different locations in Texas, Chicago and Illinois, West Memphis, AR and finally Monticello AR while Wayne held positions at General Electric as account manager, Plant manager with Omark Industries, Territorial Manager with B.F Goodrich, Regional sales with Certified Chemicals and the last 33 years at Coopers Jewelry in Monticello, AR.

Wayne especially enjoyed time with his family and keeping the annual Cooper Reunion in Lake Degray going for over 30 years with relatives attending from all over the country. But his main focus was being a member and Elder with the Monticello Church of Christ. He provided a guiding example in the knowledge and study of the Bible, always wanted to help those who could not help themselves and shared a smile, with a bit of wit and wisdom whenever he could.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Stephenson Dearman Funeral Chapel in Monticello on Saturday, January 6, 2018. Family visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. preceding the service at the funeral home. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.

Wayne was one of my most favorite cousins. We shared a love for God and a love for our family. He encouraged us to attend our family reunion so that we could maintain a connection to our families and to our past. I will miss our phone calls and his wonderful sense of humor.
