Robert E. "Bob" Cockrell, age 90 of Monticello, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Baptist Health Hospital in Little Rock. He was born October 14, 1927 in the Green Hill community to the late Earl Cockrell and Vera Ray Cockrell.

He was owner/operator of Bob's Shoes, a World War II United States Army Veteran and a longtime member of Second Baptist Church where he served as Usher and Sunday School Secretary for forty years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be greatly missed by all. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Elmon Cockrell, James Cockrell and Olen Cockrell and two sisters, Jessie Johnson and Mildred King.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Pauline Gillespie Cockrell of Monticello; two sons, Mike Cockrell and wife Sandy of Rogers and Randy Cockrell and wife Gail of Monticello; one daughter, Paula Vickers and husband Jeff of Peach Tree City, GA; two grandsons, Craig Cockrell and wife Jacqueline of Cave Springs and Jonathan Vickers of Peach Tree City, GA; four granddaughters, Brooke Wyatt and husband Ben of Frisco, TX, Sara Young and husband Collin of Overland Park, KS, Amy Mitchell and husband Patrick of Springfield, MO and Joni Elliott and husband Stephen of Del Ray Beach, FL; eleven great-grandchildren, Macy, Ava and Aubrey Wyatt, Hayes Cockrell, Ellia, Marys, Taj Mitchell, Ensley Young, Hadley and J. T. Vickers and Maggie Kaye Elliott.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ray Hearron officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.

    So very sorry for the recent death of your loved one. He will be missed by many people in Monticello.Iwas in Monticello for the Christmas Season and as I drove though the downtown area I had many fond memories of the businesses around and near the square. One of my fondness memories was when I was invited to coffee with the men at the Monticello Drug. I learned a Lot from those men and Bob was one of them . I think that there is a good chance that all of them have passed away . They were wonderful friends and I respected them a lot
