He worked at Wells Lamont Glove Factory, was a self-taught mechanic and attended the Jehovah's Witness Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by eight siblings, Joyce Ann Lewis, Lillie Mae Allen, Delorse Lewis, Curtis Lewis, Hazel Lewis, Iona Lewis, Wendale Lewis and Casander Lewis.
Survivors include one son, Edward Lewis, II of Monticello; two daughters, Erica Lewis Swan of Monticello and Sharnita Lewis Moore of Dermott; one sister, Brenda Barnes and husband R.B. of Dermott; seven brothers, John Lewis and Marilyn of CT, J.W. Lewis and Pat of IL, Jackie Lewis and Ruby of Lake Village, Bennie Lewis and Arnett of WI, Paul Lewis of CA, Michael Ray Lewis of TX and Benjamin Lewis, Jr. and Pat of WI; five grandchildren, Raleigh Washington, Alexia Lewis, Cebra Jordan, Edward Lewis, III and Carly Gragg; three great-grandchildren, Mark Antony Lewis, Robin Washington and Madison McCuan; and the mother of his children, Betty Jean Lewis of Dermott.
Funeral service was held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel. Visitation 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.
