Mrs. Lucy Mae Fletcher Spencer was born February 11, 1937 in Bradley County, AR to the late Doby Fletcher and Inez Carr Fletcher. She transitioned this life on February 5, 2020, at Baptist Health Medical Hospital in Little Rock, AR.

She devoted her life to Christ at an early age at what was then Shady Grove AME Church in Wilmar, AR. Later, she became a member of Mt. Olive AME Church in Lacey, AR, where she attended until she became First Lady of New St. Paul AME Church in Warren, AR.

She attended Wilmar Schools. She was united in holy matrimony to Rev. Nelson Spencer on January 28, 1952, alongside her sister and his brother in Ladelle, AR. Both couples had seven children.

She was preceded in death by 11 siblings; a son, James Spencer; and a great grandchild, Terrell Williams.

She was homemaker who loved flowers, especially tulips, azaleas, pansies and hibiscus. She loved to cook and garden. Her specialties were greens and homemade biscuits. She worked on seasonal jobs and by her side were her children who gained so many work ethics and values from her. Her favorite gospel song was "I Don't Feel No Ways Tired," which she requested at every family gathering. She was sweet and fun to be around to people of all ages and loved to speak her mind. She was a mother to many people of the surrounding communities and cities who gained so much wisdom from her.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of 68 years, Rev. Nelson Spencer; her children, Darron (Shirley) of Monticello, AR, Roger (Sandra) of Wilmar, AR, Delois, Brenda (Oscar) of Monticello, AR, Frederick of Pine Bluff, AR and Cynthia of Benton, AR. She also leaves seven nieces and nephews who were raised alongside of hers: Sandy (Gary) of Anchorage, Ala, Gwendolyn (David) of Maryland, Robert III (Kathy) of Arizona, Barbara (Willie) of Monticello, AR, Reginald (Rita) of Crossett, AR, Doby of Australia and Arnett (Felecia) of Pine Bluff, AR; two brothers, Garland of Bradley County and Raleigh of Spokane, WA; one brother-in-law, Edgar Spencer; 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
