Mrs. Lobitz was a wonderful woman who poured herself into every student she ever taught. She helped foster and instill a lifelong love of all music. I will miss her but remember her fondly every time that I play the piano.

It's Christmas Day, 2020, and Beverly and Larry are singing on the grandest stage of all, and sure to be enjoying the voices of the Heavenly Host singing praises to God! I was just a young boy around eleven when they worshiped at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Weatherford, Oklahoma. It was a small church with a typical attendance of 66 at a service, but it was oh-so-friendly and loving. The sanctuary wasn't much bigger than a large U-Haul storage unit, had brick walls, and it was ready for songs to echo off its walls. I clearly remember when Larry and Beverly came there...the very first Sunday...because when they started singing everyone's eyes bugged out and you could tell they wanted to turn around to answer their own question, "Where did the angels come from?" From then on, every time they sang with the rest of us, they'd go full blast on the last verse and people would just marvel. I remember Leona Bose just closing her eyes and holding the hymnal to her heart and listening. No one was 'jealous' that they couldn't even sing like that in their home showers...they were flat-out amazed at how Larry and Bev sang. They smiled and looked at each other and we all were just giddy to have a concert performance every Sunday! Sometimes they'd sing a duet by the piano and the pianist wanted to quit playing and just watch them sing, you could tell. It was like we were all fourth graders, chunking footballs a few yards downfield but Larry and Beverly came by and started deliberately throwing balls off the goalposts a hundred yards away, leaving the rest of us excited at the sight and literally having our jaws drop in amazement. I never heard such talent in church again, now many decades later. Enjoy the reunion with Lawrence and sing up!

Mrs Lobitz, was my voice teacher when I was in high school. She played a tremendous role in my voice formation. She taught me the importance of class on and off the stage. I will always remember her kindness and patience. Requiescat in pace

    Brice,
I was saddened to learn of the passing of your mother.
Her passing is the end of an era for me. As you know, your mother and I joined the UAM faculty the same year and served together there for years.

She and your dad were early and dear friends of ours.
I will always remember the many gatherings of the two families; and even moving in with the Lobitz for several days during that great ice storm. There are many, many fond memories of them and you.

I am glad to have had several long conversations with her some months ago and to hear her voice again. Your mother always called me her brother, and even in those last conversations she said remember “you are my brother”. That’s the way it was.

She and Larry will always be a presence in my heart.
    Gerald

Beverly was a dear sweet lady. For many years she drove every Sunday to Lake Village to play the organ at my church, First Presbyterian Church. She made beautiful music for us! She will be missed.

Mrs. Lowbitz was the sweetest lady I’ve ever known. As a piano teacher, she helped increase my love for music. Going to her home for weekly lessons was a highlight from grade school to graduation. She was someone I aspired to be like from her sweet spirit to her pack of dogs. She’ll be missed, but I know she’s happy to be with Mr. Larry again.

I was one of Bev’s oldest students at UAM! It was my joy to have her work and teach me, but even better to have her friendship. She was such a Christian witness to all of us. She and Larry served with such joy and that radiated from her. I was so proud to represent my school and my teacher at NATS, especially when they would recognize her as my teacher❤️❤️❤️
  19. Sonya & Marc Funk
My Auntie Beverly had the most endearing voice. Her enthusiasm for story kept her students engaged and plugged in. She loved blue and always had to accessorize. She always made me laugh. On the night of Auntie Beverly's passing, I heard a woman singing outside. I went to look but there was no one there. Her son and I agree that she is leading the choir in heaven! Praise be to Jesus!
  20. James Smiley
She was an amazing lady, she was my music advisor and voice teacher at UAM and I enjoyed our talks. My heart goes out to the lobitz family, she will be missed by so many.

  23. Julie Fakouri
Dearest Brice and Becky, I am so sorry that you lost your precious mother, and we lost a dear friend. I re-connected with her when my granddaughter took piano. In fact, on the days that I went with Maggie, there was more visiting than lesson! She especially enjoyed telling me about you two and your boys. Becky, I wasn’t a bit surprised to find out “advances” that had been engineered by you in your field. I hope it’s of some comfort to know that she was dearly loved by many. Julie Fakouri ❤️
  24. Wilma Trout
Beverly was such a lovely soul! She contributed so much to UAM music department and will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
  25. Linda Outlaw
Such a beautiful soul who will be missed by so many. Our daughter took piano from Beverly but received so much more. Beverly truly loved her students and the feeling was mutual. Rest in peace sweet friend.
  26. Beverly Burchfield
The world is less encouraging and upbeat with Beverly’s passing. She taught us all how to live a life for others. We can only hope to impact others as she did. She and I loved to call each other by name with a grin. God bless her family.
  27. Sarah
Mrs. Lobitz was a teacher that touched my life. She taught me so much more than just how to play the piano. Now, as I teach piano there is hardly a day that I don't quote her. I know she is happy to be in heaven with her mother, but sad because "she didn't get raptured in her car". :) I always felt privileged to be called "one of her special students". Though I have a feeling everyone was special to her. She will be missed!!!
  28. Butch and Judy Selig
Beverly was such a lovely person and will be missed by all who knew her. Her angelic singing voice was amazing. We feel sure she and Larry are making beautiful music in a heavenly choir today.
Prayers for comfort for the family,

  29. Mary Maloney Hanna
Mrs.Lobitz was a light in this world. She was a second mother to me and will always be the inspiration to me everyday when I sit at the piano to teach my students. She taught me so very much and I loved her dearly. Her grace and kindness along with her determination to push me past my comfort zone have made me the musician I am today. She will be missed. But I know she is rejoicing in heaven with her savior and her loved ones.
  30. Jane Pelkki
I’m saddened to hear of Beverly’s passing. Yes, she taught our son piano, but more importantly, she loved all of us. When I’d see her at Walmart or the Post Office, she always had time for me. I’m sorry, Lobitz family, for your loss. Your obituary write up about your mom and grandma summed it up well. She was Jesus with skin on.
  31. Becky Phillips
One of the kindest ladies I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. I was one of her piano “kids” and she was always so proud of our accomplishments. Well done, thy good and faithful servant. She will be missed by so many. Prayers for Bryce, Becky and all of her family.
  32. Bob Stark
    Lobitz Family,
Mrs. Lobitz was one of the kindest persons that I have ever known. I was blessed to be a fellow faculty member with her for over twenty years at UAM. My prayer is that God will fill your hearts with love that wipes every tear away. She would have wanted it that way because she made everyone happier by her presence and faith in God.
  33. Rebecca Lush
Mrs. Lobitz was dear to me, as she was to others. She was a ray of light in my world that I’m glad to have experienced.
  34. Yancy Box
Ms. Lobitz was truly an angel. To know her, was to love her. She was one of my professors at UAM 34 years ago. August 21, I had her on my mind and decided to call her. We talked for over an hour, I will remember that conversation forever. May peace of the Lord be with Brice, and the rest of the family during this time. ❤️

Mrs. Beverly and my mom were great friends. Mrs. Beverly was a huge supporter of Paws . After my momma died in May we continued to call each other every week. We laughed and talked about animals and she always was a positive person. Caring and non judgmental. I will miss her and her advice. Last thing she said to me was she was praying for me and my upcoming surgery. My deepest condolences and love to her family.
