Daisy Mae grew up in Poteau then met her soon to be husband in Fort Smith while he was stationed at Fort Chaffee. She left the conveniences of the city for life on a farm on the Bayou in Dermott, Arkansas. The farm would soon become her way of life with Ernest.
Daisy Mae was a very resourceful person with drive, fight, humor and a zest for life. As her husband secured a degree in education, she taught herself to type to help him with his work and would stay up late at nights grading papers. Later she worked as an Assistant in the Drew County OEO Office. Next she worked as a secretary in the County Road Department for Judge Vernon Roberts and later in the County Court House. She too was a caregiver of people. She took care of many, many people throughout her life.
She loved gardening, especially flowers, shopping, visiting with family and friends, cooking, traveling, animals and kids. She especially loved children; but her greatest love was her Lord and Savior, her church, and singing church hymns! Any and all children would catch her eye and draw her straight to them. She was a natural born "Grandmomma." She truly loved people and never met a stranger!
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest F. Adcock, of 58 years; her parents; a grandson, Joseph Terrell Adcock; nieces Tonya Adcock, Carol Ann Marler Oliver and Judy Adcock White; brother-in-laws Charles Adcock, J.D. Ward, Wilbert Hale and Bob Gorman; a sister-in law, Erlla Mae Ward.
Daisy Mae is survived by her five children and their families; Patty Nowlen (Burton), Pete Adcock (Brenda) of Monticello, Beverly Perry (Danny) of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Wayne Adcock (Carolyn) of Mabelvale, Arkansas, and Frankie Adcock (Pam) Little Rock, Arkansas. Also, her grandchildren Traci Adcock, Kelli Adcock (Patrick), Jeremy Adcock, Scott Chatman (Rodger), Jennifer Lawrence (Josh), Brandon Cox (Angela), Daniel Cox (Stephanie), Ginia Jennings (Rodney), B.J. Nowlen (Tara) and Matt Adcock (Ailsa); her great-grandchildren Ryan Adcock, Morgan Judkins, Karley Loveless, Eli Lawrence, Madison Cox, Naydia Cox, Lauryn Cox, Lucas Cox, Seth Cox, Caleb East, Jacob East, Katelyn Jacks, Keldon Cox, Rylan Cox, Madison Cox, Jordan Cox, Zach Jennings, Ben Jennings, Brady Jennings, Baron Jennings, Bryn Nowlen and Palmer Nowlen; her great-great-grandchildren Asher Linely, Rowdy Jacks and Payton East; her brothers, William (Sue) and Charles (Janet) Marler; her sisters, Betty Sue Gold (Steve Morris) and Nancy Hales; in-laws whom she loved as family, William Adcock, Dovie Adcock and Ella Mae Gorman; and two she held very dear, Frank Maddox and Tim Chapman.
