To the Desha-Drew counties and perimeter communities, we've lost an icon that sterilized the education system during my high school era at Tillar High....Mr. Meeks was not only our industrial education teacher, but a leader that built minds in his students that resulted with them having respect for themselves as well as others engraining us with understanding that we were products of humanity and humility....not only will he be missed by his immediate family, but an extended family that now goes beyond our county lines....I thank him for the priviledge of receiving a formal education as well as his leadership as a "man", father, husband, and community leader as well...blessing to his family and may the Lord God Himself receive "his" spirit with thanksgiving saying "well done"!!!

My thoughts and prayers are extended out to the entire Meeks family during this time of loss. I don't know that I have ever met a more gentle, caring, giving and honest man quite like Mr. LaRon. He would often stop by the house around deer season either just to say hello or maybe to swap a story or two with Michael Joe and I. Our daughter, Madison, learned his lil' Nissan pickup, by the age of 3 well. She would hollar, "Mr. Ron-Ron" when she'd see him pass by. Last night, after hearing of his passing, Madison now 13 said "oh mom, I sure will miss Mr.Ron-Ron, as will I and many others. God bless you all
