He retired from the Tillar Public Schools, was a member of the Tillar City Counsel and a former member of the Tillar volunteer fire department. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, the son of the late W. F. Derryberry and Florence Dean Derryberry and was preceded in death by his grandson, Bobby Derryberry Wilson and a great- granddaughter, Patience Paige Hogue.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Betty Cherry Derryberry of Tillar; two sons, Robert Lee Derryberry of Vicksburg, MS and David Eugene Derryberry of Tillar; two daughters, Barbara Jean Derryberry of Brighton, TN and Phylliss Derryberry Hogue of Tillar; three brothers, Frank Derryberry of Oregon, John Derryberry of New Mexico and Charles Derryberry of Arizona; two sisters, Betty Scoggins of Monticello and Martha Bales of Batesville; ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
