She was the widow of James Higgins, a housewife and a very active member of Friendship Pentecostal Church of God. Mrs. Retta's passion was her church and studying the Bible. Her hobbies included playing Yahtzee and Skip-Bo, making and selling her peanut brittle as a fundraiser for her church, sewing all of her kids clothes and making quilts. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Edward Kellum; and a sister, Joyce McGlaughlin. Mrs. Retta once said, ''If I could live my life over, I wouldn't change anything. I don't know what I could have done to make it better.''
She is survived by her four children, Elizabeth King, Brenda Young, James Higgins and Steven Higgins all of Monticello; and her grandchildren, Andrea King of Dumas, Rachel Holland of Huntsville, Steven Higgins of Fort Smith, Jason Higgins of Blacksburg, VA, Angie Anderson of Bristol, VA, Ryan Young of Arkadelphia, Christy Anderson of Forney, TX.

Monticello, AR Friday, April 29, 2022 I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Retta's passing. James & I used to live down the street from her when our children were little. She was a wonderful neighbor, always so friendly, sweet & smiling. I just loved her. If you talked to her you knew she was a Christian. I pray for God's blessings and comfort for her many friends and family.🙏Sherry O'Neill-Rawls
