She was a retired registered nurse and member of Enon Baptist Church of Monticello, an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a former alumni member of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Tommye worked for the Arkansas State Health Department as both a clinical RN and administrative RN for 30 years before retiring.
Survivors include a son, Jerry (Jay) William Boyd, Jr. and wife Theresa of Broken Arrow, OK; a daughter, Sandra (Sandy) Carol Hughes and husband Russell of Columbus, MS; four grandchildren, Robert Michael Boyd and Emily Elizabeth Boyd both of Broken Arrow, OK, Christopher Jay Hughes and wife Courtney of Arcadia, FL and Joshua Alan Hughes (Tiffany Proctor) of Steens, MS; six great grandchildren, Jace Michael Hert, Bentley Ray Hughes, Ava Lane Hughes, Cameron Alan Hughes, Raymond Wayne Hughes and Jaxston Eric Hughes; along with cousins, Ann Rice, Pat Wade, Jan Nieminen, Cheryl Calhoun Rice, Jim Mitchell, Mary Jo Mitchell, Bill Bishop, Charles Calhoun and Robert Mitchell.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kevin Dunn officiating. There will be a visitation preceding the funeral service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Monticello, AR. Janie & Tommye met 70 years ago in 7th grade of Drew Central.School, Monticello, AR. Lifelong close friends. Tommye was attendant at our 1962 Wedding. Throughout the many years of our close friendships, we enjoyed many private visits as well as at class reunions. Tommye always ensured our class/friends remained close no matter where in US we all lived. She was the “go to classmate” responsible for reunions. Tommye was our close friend.
