She was the widow of Norman Dean Roper, a Custodian and a member of the Pentecostal faith. Phyllis loved hunting and fishing with her husband and was always planting flowers everywhere. She also loved spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids and passing her wisdom and advice on to others. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her grandparents; her in-laws, Norman (Pete) Roper and Coy Roper; a brother-in-law, Bobby Don Bordenaro; and a great granddaughter, Kaisley Nevaeh Say.
She is survived by two daughters, Tracie Say and husband Cecil, Jennifer McDaniel and husband Johnny all of Monticello; one son, Edward Roper and wife Wendy of Monticello; her sisters, Peggy Pertruis and husband Allen, Gloria Freeman, Susan Woodall and husband Ricky, Brenda Doughmon and husband Chris and Charlotte Bordenaro; brothers, David Martin and wife Henrietta, Robert Campbell and wife Ann, Jimmy Campbell and wife Jennifer and James Campbell and wife Emma; thirteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tim McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in Lone Sassafras Cemetery.
