Mrs. Inez Butler Lindsey of 303 Kennedy Blvd. Monticello, Arkansas passed away on November 20, 2023. Inez was born December 10, 1920, to Jack Butler and Effie Lou Howard Butler on the old Spy-vie place in Drew County, Arkansas. She was married to Rev. Roosevelt Lindsey Sr. who preceded her in death and her daughter Wyonnie Lindsey Wofford. Many people in the Drew County and Monticello communities and the global community knew Mrs. Inez for her leadership in various church and community organizations. She shared the word of Christ and prayed to those who she met because this was her calling to show and share love with others. She was an active 102-year-old centurion. She is survived by her children; Ricky Lindsey (Jackie) of Richton Park, Illinois, Rev. Roosevelt Lindsey, Jr. (Dr. Kaye) Calabash, California, Rev. Dr. Peggy Lindsey-Owens (Rev. Ray) of Raeford, North Carolina, Debra Lindsey of New Orleans, Louisiana, and two brothers; Joe Butler of Little Rock, Arkansas and Ernest Dowdy of San Bernardino, California. She is the grandmother of nine and the great-grandmother of 11 and the great-great-grandmother of nine.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Pilgrims Rest AME Church in Monticello, AR. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Drew County.
