He was a retired factory worker and a Baptist. He was the son of the late Vester Hewitt and Lela Clyde Burks Hewitt.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Murphy Hewitt of Monticello; one son, Jimmy Allen Hewitt and wife, Samantha of Monticello; two daughters, Pamela Sue Ferguson and husband, Nathan and Christy Pace and husband, Paul, Jr., all of Monticello; three adopted brothers; two adopted sisters; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
