She was a homemaker, Burlington Industries and Quality Stamps employee and a Wal-Mart greeter in her later years. Joan was an avid Christian & served the Lord faithfully. She absolutely loved cooking & baking as was well-known for her famous homemade orange cake & chocolate pie. She had an amazing green thumb & one of her happiest places was being in the garden or flower bed tending to her numerous plants. Her most prized titles were wife & a mother figure to many. She was married to the love of her life, Bill for 55 years before his passing, & their marriage was inspiring to all of their loved ones. She was a wonderful mother, grand & great-grandmother. She took care of all of her grands as if they were her own children. But she was extra special because of her selflessness throughout her life always putting others first & taking care of so many even outside of her family and treating them as part of her family instantly.
She is survived by one sister, Joyce Crump of Jonesboro; three children, Lisa, William (La-ong) & Jeff England, Sr.; one brother, Edwin White; grandchildren, David Crocker (Sara), Michelle Pace (Jeff), Pamela Crowley (Lester), James Dillard, and J.T. England, Jr. (Brittany); and great-grandchildren, Susan Crocker, Gabe Crocker, Glenn Crocker, Cheyanna England, Dayton England, Samuel England, Lucy Crocker and Beckham England.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with Juerga Smith and Keith Wallis officiating. There will be a visitation from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday preceding the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX.
