Sybil Martin, age 51, was born January 28, 1973, in Chicago, IL to the late Len Cherry, Sr. and Effie McGary. She departed this life on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Baptist Health Drew County in Monticello, AR. She was a student of Monticello High School, where she participated in the choral program and was a madrigal. Sybil loved to laugh and to make others laugh. She was an avid card player, fun loving, friendly, and loved her family. She accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She was raised and reared up in Shady Grove AME Church and later united with Turning Point Ministries.

Sybil is preceded in death by her father, Len Cherry, Sr.; brother, Tyrone Cherry; sister, Greta Martin; and a grandson, Aiden Martin.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Effie McGary of Monticello, AR; two sons, Zack Martin and Jarvis Martin both of Monticello, AR; three grandchildren, Ava Naomi Johnson, Aiden Ja'Keith Martin and Paycen Martin; three sisters, Yvette (Karon) Trotter of Monticello, AR, Bridgette (Gary) Freeman of Monticello, AR, and Deidra Martin of Dallas, TX; four brothers, Len (Nicole) Cherry, Jr., Lamont Cherry, Carl Taylor, Lyndsay Reed of Jackson, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chris Goodman officiating. There will be a wake Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. You can sign Sybil's guestbook registry on this page.
