I served in the armed forces.
Henry 'Pete' Sawyer, 87, of Monticello, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. He was born September 6, 1923 in Monticello.

He was a retired salesman at The Leader and Cockrell's Shoes, a U. S. Army Veteran of WW II and an Elder at Wood Avenue Presbyterian Church. He was the son of the late Roy Sawyer and Emma Cloud Sawyer and was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include one sister, Barta Montgomery of Monticello; several nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and great-nephews and other relatives and friends.
