LaFaye Rash Oakes, 91, of Monticello, passed away Monday, September 5, 2011 at Belleview Nursing and Rehab in Monticello. She was born August 8, 1920 in Drew County.

She was the widow of John E. Oakes, a former Dura Craft Boat company employee, co-owner/operator of a scrap metal shop, florist and grocery store and was a member of the Tabernacle of Faith Church in Monticello. She was the daughter of the late Earl Rash and Emma Garrett Rash and was also preceded in death by two sons, Charles and Chester Oakes; one stepson, John E. Oakes; two brothers, Haskell and Clay Rash; and three sisters, Helen Fox, Hazel Grant and Earlie McClure.

Survivors include two daughters, Nora Faye Lovett and LaVeda Allen both of Monticello; fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
