I knew Mr. Acree from the Presb. Children's Home in Monticello, AR. I lived there for several years and he was a kind and great person. I have never forgotten him or others. I pray he rests in peace and his family is comforted knowing he is absolutely in a better place. I was a teen then and now I am soon to turn 52. I have thought often over the years where so many of the people are from the Children's Home. Just a group of wonderful people that cared about the kids; and Mr. Acree was the leader. God Bless his family.

No words can express how this man changed my life. He was kind and patient and wise. He made a difference in someone's life every day. A mentor, teacher, or just a shoulder to cry on. I am thankful every day that I was lucky enough to have him as a guide in my youth. Oh yea, and I was also afraid of his temper, which didn't flair too often but.... Ha.

I will aways remember Mr. Leory and I gathered spring flowers for his decoration of the Easter Cross outside First Presbyterian Church. He was an not only an inspiration but a blessing for many.

Leroy was a kind and generous man. It was amazing the number of people he managed to say connected to. He had such a positive influence to some many young people. It was such a joy to work with him at Vera Lloyd during those years I was attending college. My life has been the better for it. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family for your loss.

Leroy and Louise were an important part of the history of Vera Lloyd Presbyterian Home that I'm so sad to lose. Only God knows how many lives were touched by their unconditional love. Having worked for Vera Lloyd for more than 37 years, I've seen many childcare workers come and go. Not one compares with Leroy's dedication to the welfare of the youth, not only as residents of Vera Lloyd, but many years afterward. His legacy lives on.

Leroy, Mr. Acree, either name describes a man that was compasionate, inspiring and at times irritating. He was my father figure, my friend, my boss, and my mentor but most important he was a good man. Thank you Jeanne and Steve for sharing him and your mother with me. I love you both and know that you have been and will be in my prayers.

Leroy was a bundle of energy. The guy never slowed down. I have memories of getting up early many summer mornings to pick tomatoes to take to the market. Leroy was right there to teach and supervise while he worked alongside the kids. He did not shirk any responsibility. I think of him as one of the most important persons' in my life. He was a dad to Jeannie & Steve as well as hundreds who lived at Vera Lloyd Home. He was kind, gentle, understanding and supportive. He spent his life helping others. We will all miss him.
