He was a retired tile contractor and a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Watson Chapel. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon Louise Underwood; one brother, Gerald Smith and two sisters, Cecelia Tripp and Barbara Monroe.
Survivors include his wife; Jeanette Truhett Underwood of Sheridan; three sons, William T. Underwood, Jr. of Harrah, OK, Mike Underwood of Shongaloo, LA and John Underwood of Memphis, TN; two daughters; Kathryn Underwood of Atlanta, GA and Beverly Davis of Monticello; three step-sons, Tony Brown of Jacksonville, FL, Timothy Brown of Star City and Jeffrey Hill of Sheridan; three sisters, Doris Marks of Springdale, AR, Linda Nelson of Springhill, LA and Jane Cook of Flower Mound, TX; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, two step grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren.
