He retired as an International Representative for United Paper Workers International Union after 30 years of service, was of the Baptist faith and loved to hunt and fish. He was also preceded in death by three brothers; Bill, Malvin and Barton Murphy and two sisters, Eunice Judkins and Alma Slocum-Enderby.
Survivors include his wife, Bettye Ivy Murphy of Monticello; two sons, Norman Douglas Murphy, II and his wife Judy of Sherwood and Milton Murphy of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; one daughter Gwen Fletcher of Pine Bluff; one brother, Calvin Murphy and wife Margie of Pine Bluff; one sister, Clara Waller and husband Ed of Mountain View, AR and several nieces and nephews.

Some of them happy and some of them sad, but it seems like if there was anything that needed to be done, you two were always there to help. The building of a new home and barn, the death of my daddy and papaw, no matter the situation. I will always remember his crooked smile and great attitude with great fondness.
