John Edward Lord, 87, of Monticello passed away Monday, September 9, 2013 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. He was born March 31, 1926 to the late Jessie B. and Louie Arrington Lord.

He was a Optical Laboratory Technician and owner of Ed's Eye Shop, a U. S. Navy Veteran of WW II and was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mozelle Lord; his grandfather, Dr. Reno Lord; a brother, Aubrey Lord and one sister, Jeanette Sexton.

Survivors include his wife Sue Crossnoe Featherston Lord or Monticello; one sister, Annie Mae Lewis of Longview; one stepson, Mike Featherston and wife, Cindy of Monticello; one stepdaughter, Renee Withers and companion, Dennis of Monticello and a host of step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

    We are so sorry for your loss of Mr. Lord. When I learned of his death this morning, tears came to my eyes as I remembered what a wonderful neighbor and friend he was to the Berry and Bates family for many years. He was very special to our whole family. He will be missed.
