Marie Uptigrove Heflin Johnston, age 96, of Monticello passed away Monday, October 26, 2009, at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello, AR. The daughter of the late Charlie Eugene Uptigrove and Maude Yelvington Uptigrove, she was born October 23, 1913 in Ashley County, AR.

She was the widow of Ed Heflin, Raymond McPherson and Lavelle Johnston. She was a retired licensed practical nurse and member of the Second Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include one son, James Heflin and wife, Wilma of Abilene, TX; one daughter, Janice Stewart of Monticello; several step children; four grandchildren, Judy Wade, Keith Stewart, Stephen Stewart and James David Heflin and wife, Amy; and six great grandchildren.
