Lera Campbell Clampit, 84, of Monticello, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2009 at her home. She was born June 11, 1925 in Crossett, AR.
She was the widow of Nervin N. Clampit, retired from Burlington Industries and a member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late W. J. Campbell and Mattie May Scogin Campbell and was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, James and Carolyn Clampit, one granddaughter, Jamie Jo Clampit, and four brothers and two sisters. She was a poet and enjoyed doing arts and crafts. She was very creative and a very loving wife, mother and grandmother, fondly known as Grammy Groove. She also loved and wrote music.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Clampit and Jed Clampit, both of Monticello; her twin sister, Vera Lain of Kiln, MS; six grandchildren, Steven Clampit, Jason Clampit, Candy Hamilton, Joey Wade Clampit and Michelle and Joey Thomas; six great grandchildren.
