Welcome

Ollie Mae Baker
June 19, 1927 - January 2, 2010

On Saturday, January 2, 2010, Ollie Baker, beloved mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt and friend to many made the transition from this life of 82 years into another life just beginning. A new beginning with no pain, suffering or physical ailments, or complications with extended stays in the hospital. which she experienced these last couple of months. A life to enjoy forever with family, friends & other loved ones gone on before her.

She loved God and her family whom she loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with as much as possible. She enjoyed her TV watching and sitting on the front porch visiting with family and friends, drinking coffee, and watching the traffic passing by. She loved dogs and no matter how many times she said she would not adopt another one, she always seemed to be a magnet for one needing a home. She loved Christmas but despised the cold weather.

She was born June 19, 1927 in Monticello and was a lifelong resident there, having worked several different jobs but her last employment was as a nurse's aide at Leisure Lodge Nursing Home in Monticello. She was a long time member of the Monticello Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Pearl Herring, her sisters, Marie Hudgens, Mary Yount, and brother, JC Herring, She is survived by her two sons, Marty Baker and wife Sandra of Monticello and Mike Harmon and wife Gina of Little Rock; one sister, Laverne Ray of Mesquite, Texas; three grandchildren, Josh Baker and wife Kimberly, and Seth Baker and wife Lindsey of Monticello and Kim Holt and husband Jon of Gentry; four great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Whitney and AnnDee Holt and Kynslee Baker; two step-great-grandchildren, Laurel Beal and Jeffrey England and a multitude of nieces and nephews. She will be sorely missed, but she leaves a part of herself in each of our hearts and memories.

A special thanks to her special doctors and nurses in Monticello and the doctors, nurses and caregivers in ICU at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock who worked diligently and lovingly on her behalf.
