Minnie May Moffatt, age 90, died on Friday, February 19, 2010 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello, AR. She was born to Walter A. Moffatt, Sr. and Myrtle Wells Moffatt on June 20, 1919 in the family home on South Main Street, the home where she resided her entire life. She attended Monticello schools, graduating from Monticello High School in 1935. After obtaining a B.A. in French from Arkansas A&M (now UAM) in 1939, she went to work for her father at Moffatt Abstract Company. After his retirement in 1953 she operated this business, the only such company in Drew County, until she retired in 1982.
She was a lifelong member of Wood Avenue Presbyterian (A.R.P.) Church where she served as a deacon and as treasurer for many years. She was also a life member of the Drew County Historical Society, Monticello Friends of the Library and Monticello Junior Auxiliary. She enjoyed all sports and was an avid golfer and bridge player. She and her sister Pattie enjoyed many trips across the U.S. and to Europe. She had a keen interest in family history and was a member of the Clan Moffatt Society in America.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Walter A. Moffatt, Jr. She is survived by her brother, Wells Moffatt and his wife, Ruth, her sister, Pattie Moffatt, and her niece, Marsha Moffatt Daniels (Bill), all of Monticello. Also her two great nieces, Natalie Daniels Atkins (Justin) of Little Rock and Meredith Daniels of Nashville, TN.
The family will be gathering at 469 S. Main Street in Monticello.
