Dowell Wayne "Home Grown" Russell, age 68 of Warren, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born October 27, 1950 in Wilmar, AR to the late Woody Dowell Russell and Mildred Crawford Russell.
He was a retired truck driver for over 30 years for Tyson's and then drove for David Nichol's Trucking. He was a Baptist and attended Union Hill Baptist Church. He loved truck driving, gardening, doing yard work and dirt track racing, traveling miles to races. He enjoyed talking and just having a good time and was a loving husband, daddy, pap paw and friend to all who knew him. He also enjoyed playing board games with his grandchildren and was dearly loved and will be missed by his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, George Waymon Russell; one sister, Jannie Gail Russell; and his mother-in-law, Marjorie Adair.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Marilyn Sutton Russell of Warren; one son, Richard Wayne Russell and wife Carolyn of Warren; two daughters, Brandie Davis and husband Calvin of Wilmar and Ashley Courtney and husband Aaron of Hermitage; one sister, Judy Adair and husband Jerry of Rye; one brother-in-law, Glyn Adair of Warren; six grandchildren, Caitlin, Megan, Justin, Austin, Destiny and Courtney; and two great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Kara.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial to follow in Enon Cemetery at Rye. Visitation 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.
