Richard Keith Shafer, age 67 of Jonesboro, formerly of Monticello, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born June 8, 1952 in Douglas, WY to Delois Smith Shafer Dilbeck and the late R. C. Shafer.
He retired from Allied Tubing and Conduit in Pine Bluff and also worked at Burlington Industries in Monticello for 21 years. Richard was a United States Army Veteran and was of the Baptist faith. He received a BS in Computer Science from UAM in 1986 and a Master's in Medical Lab Science from Arkansas State University in 2016. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Morene Fisher.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Linda Carter Shafer of Jonesboro; three daughters, Paula Shafer Britain and husband Peter and Brandy Shafer Tolbert and husband Stephen both of Memphis, TN and Amanda Shafer of Jonesboro; his mother, Delois Dilbeck of White Hall; one brother, Larry Joe Shafer and wife Karen of Lawton, OK; one sister, Anita Shafer of White Hall; nine grandchildren, Angela, David, Ramzie, T. J., Jack, Claira, Madison, O'Neal and Carlee; three stepbrothers, Pat Fisher and wife Charlotte of Monticello, Mike Fisher of Benton and Darrell Dilbeck and wife Melonie of Tillar; four step-sisters, Eva Fisher Lewis of Carroll Stream, IL, Teresa Dilbeck McElroy and husband Mark of Rowher, Angie Dilbeck of White Hall and Tambra Dilbeck of MS.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial to follow in Carter Cemetery in Ashley County. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.
