J.D. Calhoun, 84, of Monticello, passed away, Monday, May 31, 2010, from injuries sustained in an accident. He was born June 6, 1925 in Lincoln County, AR.
He was a retired lineman from C & L Electric, a cattleman, and owner/operator of J.D. Calhoun Heavy Equipment, Inc. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II which marked his first time to ever be away from home. He served active duty in the Pacific where he was a member of the 43rd Division of the U.S. Army. He was the son of the late Urban and Mable Woodward Calhoun and was preceded in death by two brothers, Doyle & Morrell Calhoun.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Owens Calhoun, of Monticello; two daughters, Anne Calhoun Hollinger and husband Steve of Artesia, New Mexico, Lisa Calhoun of Monticello; two sisters, Virginia Casteel of Monticello, Betty Frank Rosenberger of Little Rock; three grandsons, Will Hollinger and wife Jamie of Artesia, New Mexico, Allen Martin and Mason Martin of Monticello; two granddaughters, Rachel Chapman and husband Jim of Atlanta, Georgia, Jaye Lynn Hollinger, Artesia, New Mexico; three great-grandchildren, Addison Hollinger, Jackson Hollinger and James Chapman.
