Patricia "Pat" Busby Akin, age 76 of Monticello, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello, AR. She was born August 16, 1942 in Little Rock, AR to the late Dr. Arlee Kelton Busby, Sr. and Louise Yocum Busby.
She was the widow of George Robert Akin, Sr., a retired school teacher, receiving her BSE at UAM and a Master's in Special Education at University of Arkansas Little Rock and was a long time member of First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Jeff Busby.
Survivors include her son, George Robert Akin, Jr. and wife Cindy Tucker Akin of Monticello; her daughter, Anita Akin Tennyson and husband Drew of El Dorado; five grandchildren, Justin Michael Evans and wife Kimberly of Junction City, Ashley Evans Kussman and husband Larry of Warren, Britni Akin of Ft. Collins, CO, Kinsley Akin Vickers and husband Hunter of Monticello and Tess Tennyson of El Dorado; seven great-grandchildren, Claire Evans, Jake Evans, Owen Evans, Sarah Evans, Adam Kussman, Brycen Kussman and Boston Akin; three brothers, Kelton Busby, Jr. and wife Betty of Monticello; Dr. Bo Busby and wife Nena of Little Rock and Bill Busby and wife Roselyn of Monticello; three sisters, Susan Wooldridge of Bella Vista, Melissa Claycomb and husband Sonny of Conway and Jana Calhoun and husband Daron of The Woodlands, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2019 at First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.
